“The inessentials procreate until we finally notice,
the little things aren’t quite as clear but beautiful in focus.”

Rodnay Brewer is a Florida based sculptor, potter and writer. After finishing studies at The University of West Florida and Florida State University, Brewer has spent the past several years finding the thread through the mediums he works in.
Brewer says “the thread is human experience”. A tool with which he connects writing and sculpture as well as himself to the viewer.

/ Statement
My work aims to surround, imbue and embrace the viewer with many versions of myself as I’ve crumbled, reconstructed and adjusted to ever-changing circumstance. I hope to evoke introspection through the intimacy of analyzing vulnerability, and evoke acceptance through the impermanence of circumstance.
Currently, I’m really interested the juxtaposition between professionalism and inspiration. What is the imaginary line of quality that turns practice into work; and is that line made of insecurity, sycophantism, education, etc.
